Annihilation Of The Physical Caliphate. 2vol. (2018) 1350p.
Reversing the policies and judgments of the Obama Administration, which considered the Islamic State to be permanent and invincible, the Trump Administration mounted a series of campaigns, most notably the Mosul campaign (with Iraqi allies) and the Raqqa campaign (which relied heavily on Syrian-Kurdish allies (Syrian Democratic Front (YPG/Rojava)) that destroyed the two great bulwarks of the Islamic State. Islamic State forces in Mosul were destroyed after being surrounded; however, the last major group of Islamic State fighters in Raqqa were allowed the leave to spare the city. This volume traces the military and political campaigns and results of the campaign of annihilation of the Islamic States. At the end of these two campaigns, an estimated 80,000-100,000 Islamic State fighters were killed, but as many as 30,000 Islamic State fighters remained in Syria and Iraq. Two volumes. An annotated bibliography including analytical essay, abstracts and documents. Two volumes. An annotated bibliography including analytical essay, abstracts and documents.
